We recognise that the demand for fossil fuels will continue throughout the energy transition, particularly in energy-intensive industries. While natural gas is the cleanest option in this area, it is becoming increasingly challenging to extract as gas reserves are depleted.
One of the challenges natural gas wells face over their lifetime is the issue of liquid loading. As formation pressure decreases, the gas is unable to transport accumulated liquids down the wellbore, resulting in reduced well productivity and lost revenue for operators. To address this issue, surfactant injection or foam lift is a commonly used gas well deliquification technique. This method has proven to be highly effective, particularly in low pressure gas reservoirs where the critical gas velocity required to prevent liquid loading drops to approximately 20% of its original value.
